Charles H. Roberson
Charles Heber Roberson was born in Robersonville, N. C. on
Feb. 28, 1897. His parents moved to Marshall County, TN in
1892. He attended Gerogia Robertson Christian College at
the age of nineteen. He became the co-founder, along with
A. B. Barret, of Cleburne College in Celburne, TX.

Leonard Lee Brigance
1879-1950
Biographical Sketch On The Life Of L. L. Brigance
Leonard Lee Brigance was born in 1879 at Scotts Hill,
Henderson County, Tennessee. He was the son of W. Sanders
and Mary Frances Brigance. He obeyed the gospel early in
life under the preaching of R. P. Meeks. He finished high
school at Scotts Hill and continued his studies at Georgia
Robertson Christian College in Henderson. He completed the
course there in 1905 and obtained the M.A. degree from that
school. He became a member of the faculty of the college,
then known as National Teachers Normal and Business
College, in the year of 1909, the second session of its
operation. He was instructor in Latin, Greek, Literature
and the Bible. His philosophy was the saying of Emerson,
"Hitch your wagon to a star." With the exception of a few
years, he was a member of the Freed-Hardeman College
faculty from its earliest years until he passed away.

Sue Shelton White
1887-1943
Sue Shelton White, suffragist, lawyer, government official,
and active Democrat, was born on May 25, 1887, in
Henderson, Tenn., the second of three children of James
Shelton White and Mary Calista (Swain) White. Her father, a
lawyer and Methodist minister, died when she was nine. When
her mother died four years later, SSW went to live with an
aunt. When she was sixteen she took a teacher training
course at Georgia Robertson Christian College and the
following year (1904-05) attended West Tennessee Business
College. From the time of her first job, as a stenographer
in Jackson, Tenn., until her death in 1943, she held a
variety of paid positions and was active in the woman
suffrage movement and the Democratic Party.

James Shelton White had three children. They lived in a
house, part of which is still standing, just across from
the city cemetery, near Lofton Chevrolet Company. Sue
Shelton White, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. White,
attended Georgie Robertson Christian College, then became a
court reporter, moving to Jackson. She worked as a reporter
for a few years in Jackson and is remembered by some of the
citizens living now in Henderson. Sue White studied law and
was a secretary for former Senator K. D. McKellar for a
number of years. She secured her law degree and was one of
the people who made great contributions to our present
social security laws. She was a close friend of President
and Mrs. Franklin Roosevelt. She was a national leader in
the woman''s suffrage movement and took the lead in the
same movement to gain women the right to vote in Tennessee.
She died in May 1943 of cancer and is buried in the state
of Virginia.
David Richard Shelton
1879-1936
David Shelton's brother was Pinkney Shelton, grandfather of
Mrs. Tom (Carole) Day Childers. He is buried in the Antioch
Primitive Baptist Cemetery near Ripley, MS in Tippah
County. He taught school in Booneville, MS.
Clint Atkins Daniel
Apr. 2, 1886 - Jan. 30, 1961
Clint was a native of Daniel's Landing in Perry County, TN,
and was a graduate of Georgia Robertson Christian College
at Henderson. It is now called Freed-Hardeman Christian
College. He was a postmaster at Daniel's Landing for 33
years and also operated a store. Clint was a member of the
Church of Christ. He moved to Madison, TN and lived there
for 15 years and was employed by B. F. Myers & Sons
department store. He passed away at Madison Hospital, after
an extended illness.
Clint Atkins Daniels, 74, of Madison, TN died Monday at
Madison Hospital, after an extended illness. Funeral
services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wed at the Madison
Feneral Home with Dr. Ira North minister of the Madison
Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.
Wed at the Crooked Creek Church of Christ in Perry Co.,
with C. N. Hudson officiating, and burial in the Northern
Cemetery, Perry Co., TN in the family burial grounds. He
was married 50 years ago to the former Sallie Daniel, who
survives. The son of John N. and Martha Young Daniel and
was born and raised in Perry Co., TN. Survivors include;
son, Homer A. Daniel minister of Church of Christ in Ft.
Oglethorpe, Chattanooga; a brother, former Judge John B.
Daniel, two sisters; Mrs. Jennie H. Daniel, and Mrs. Willie
Bell, also three grandchildren; Jane, Martha, & Jimmie
Daniel all of Chattanooga. Active pallbearers were elders
and deacons of the Madison Church of Christ. Funeral Homes
in charge of arrangements were Luff-Bowen, Waverly (Most of
all the Daniel's use this funeral home), and Madison
Funeral Home.
