R. V. Scott
R. V. Scott
was born in Carroll County, Tenn., Oct. 7, 1924. When he
was about four years old he moved to Bemis, Tenn., where he
attended the Bemis schools, graduating from high school in
1943.
He attended Freed-Hardeman College, graduating from there
in 1948. In 1950 he graduated from David Lipscomb College.
He preached his first sermon in Bemis, Tenn., for his home
congregation in 1947. During the time he was attending
David Lipscomb he preached for the church in Funtain Head,
Tenn., where he also conducted a weekly radio program over
Radio WHIN, Gallatin, Tenn. He conducts four or five
meeting per year.
In the fall of 1950 he married June Lee Durham of
Hendersonville, Tenn. He baptized her about two weeks
previous to the wedding; she was formerly a Baptist. They
have one son, Robert Mark, who is one year old.
The first Sunday after being married, he preached in
Tunica, Miss., where he has been since that time. The
church had about 15 members when he went and has had a
struggle but now numbers 30 members and is about to enter
into a new $16,000 building.
