Joyce Hendrix was a gospel preacher, a photographer, and artist. He painted sermon charts and murels in church buildings. He was living in Henderson when the tornado of 1951 hit and killed several people. As a married student, he painted the signs in front of the buildings at Freed-Hardeman.

He transcribed the
Woods-Nunnery Debate which took place in 1946 near Parsons, TN.

Brother Hendrix painted his own sign with his name to hang under the church sign. When he moved to another church, he took it with him.
