Nicholas Brodie Hardeman


1874-1965
N.B. Hardeman was born on May 18, 1874, near Milledgeville, McNairy County, Tennessee. He was the son of Dr. John Bellefont Hardeman and Nancy Jane Hardeman. While attending West Tennessee Christian College in about 1890, he was baptized into Christ by R.P. Meeks. He graduated in June of 1895 with a B.A. degree and when this school became the Georgie Robertson Christian College he enrolled and received his M.S. degree and was a member of the faculty of this school for eight years.
 
In 1908 he and A.G. Freed established the National Teachers' Normal and Business College, in Henderson, Tennessee, which is now known as Freed-Hardeman University.
 
N.B. Hardeman was the speaker in the great Ryman Auditorium Tabernacle Meetings. These sermons were carried by radio broadcast and printed in both Nashville newspapers daily. Brother Hardeman passed away on November 6, 1965.
 
Hardeman is buried in the Henderson City Cemetery, Henderson, TN.
