Bro. J.T. Smith
BOONEVILLE – Bro. J.T. Smith, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 6,
2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. He was a
United States Army veteran. He was a retired farmer and
Church of Christ minister. He was a member of the
Tishomingo Church of Christ.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McMillan Funeral
Home Chapel with Minister Haskell Sparks and Minister
Claudie Jones officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope
Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Whitehead Smith; a
son-in-law, William Barnett of Booneville; a stepson,
Rickey (Kristie) Whitehead of Dennis; a sister, Nora Ellen
Gault of Booneville; a grandson, John Barnett; two
stepgranddaughters, Laken Pounds and Kaitlyn Whitehead.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vernell Brown
Smith; a daughter, Linda Smith Barnett; his parents, Wesley
and Mary Ova Farrar Smith; one sister, Ernie Bell Johnson;
and two brothers, Arvill Smith and Buster Smith.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Whitehead, Tyler Whitehead, Jeff
Martin, Jackie Akers, Mackey Denson and Doug Taylor.
Visitation will until service time today at the funeral
home.
