Marvin Kendrick Rainey -- 1919-2000
Funeral services for Marvin Kendrick Rainey, 81, of
Corinth, are set for 2 p.m. today at Theo Church of Christ
with Paul Watson, Basil Overton, Milton Sewell and Tom
Holland officiating. Burial will be at Oaks Hill Cemetery
in Corinth.
Marvin Kendrick Rainey, Faithful Evangelist, 1919-2000
Marvin Rainey passed away quietly on October 12, 2000. He
was born at Theo, west of Corinth, Miss., on July 27, 1919,
so he was eighty-one years of age. Marvin was married to
the late Jewell Coleman Rainey, who preceded him in death
in March of 1999. He and Jewell are survived by four
children: Jerry Rainey; Joyce McMahan both of Nashville,
Tenn.; Wanda Throop of Sikeston, MO; and David Rainey of
Corinth. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Cayce
Rainey Burklow, Brooke Rainey, Bert and Mark McMahan,
Rebecca Throop, and Erin Rainey.

Marvin Rainey, gospel preacher and businessman, lives in
Corinth. Mississippi, and has done most of his preaching
for the past thirty-eight years in Northern Mississippi. At
the present time he preaches for the Clear Creek Church of
Christ.
Brother Rainey took the three year preacher's course at
Freed-Hardeman College (1947-49). Since that time he has
done local work in Tennessee, Missouri, and Mississippi.
Marvin and Jewel1 (Coleman) Rainey have four children:
Jerry, Joyce, Wanda, and David. For many years he has
reached thousands for Christ through his radio program at
WCMA, Corinth. The Raineys are strong and faithful
supporters of Freed-Hardeman College.
Cemetery
Oak Hills Cemetery is located between Walnut and Corinth,
Miss. Going east on Highway 72 toward Corinth, take the
second road to the right after passing the Theo church of
Christ building. Go about two miles and turn right at the
cemetery sign which is on the left.
