J. A. McNutt was born Nov. 16, 1908 near Blue Springs, MS. He entered the high school department of Freed-Hardeman College in 1929.

Brother and sister McNutt are buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, East. The cemetery is located about two miles north of I-40 on Whitten Road in Memphis. As you turn into the cemetery, take the center road and turn between Masonic Garden section on the right and Garden of Prayer on the left. Bear to the left and when you come to a tree on the left, the McNutt grave is nearby, grave number 433. The grave is about three rows from the road and about three deep from the other road.
